Course Description

A variety of genres and styles of American Literature are studied. Several novels, the writing process, grammar and vocabulary are addressed. This two semester course is required for all sophomores.


Pre-Requisite:

English I (.5 unit per semester)


Grading Scale:

Same as in my other classes.


Topics Covered:

-Review of Grammar (punctuation, parts of speech, subjects/predicates,etc.)


-Phrases and Clauses -Usage -Review Writing Process (concentrating on expository & persuasive writing)


-Daily Journal Writings


-American Literature (Poetry, Short Stories, Excerpts, etc.)


Novels:

The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Road by Cormac McCarthy
